The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. (2 Corinthians 9: 6-7)
One of the questions that I am often asked when I have the pleasure to visit congregations is, “Where are all the young adults at”? My answer is often to say “everywhere”, but I know at the root of this question is that young adults graduate from High School and many leave their home to go to college or find work elsewhere. They are not very visible in our congregational settings. My answer to this is every congregation has an active young adult ministry when they support a Lutheran Campus Ministry site! Lutheran Campus Ministry- Morris (LCMM) engages young adults away from their home congregations in Worship, Fellowship, Bible Study, Book Study, and Service.
Young Adults that have engaged with LCMM continue to grow in the faith and within the UMM learning environment also engage their faith in a setting that is safe to ask big questions and wonder about, what is God’s preferred future for their life and that of the life of the church.
Your Young Adult ministry needs support in many different ways; the first is to actively pray for LCMM and the young adults that connect with your young adult ministry. The second is to be active in the life of what is happening with LCMM. One congregation holds a women’s bible study at the LCMM, while another has had a council meeting… This is your ministry “outpost” at the UMM Campus. As always your continued financial support is needed now more than ever. Congregations and individual Stewards are being called upon in a big way to finically support their young adult ministry that happening in the setting of LCMM. So as you go into this Spring season, I on behalf of LCMM ask you to be in deep prayer on how you can support LCMM and your ministry with young adults. Blessings and I thank you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ!
